RE: Vancouver Snow Camping

Mt Baker in Washington would fit the bill. If you are toading, Hemlock for the day stuff and Kilbey Provincial Park for camping.

RE: People using your camp site

You have already said "I didn't care". If your wife wants to start a scrap over something, let HER go and do it. Can you imagine if you had gone in, guns blazing, over what? some decorations on your campsite? geeez man, you did the right thing.

RE: Lost wheel covers on a class c

It's a tough call, I guess..simulators or not. They just look so darned good when they are polished up, along with the whole rig. Doesn't run any better but there is something about the look.

RE: Canadian Rockies/

Waterton Lake will be high on lists of must stays...a neat site to visit if one is into First Nations history is Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo-Jump in Southern Alberta. If you are in the area, it's worth stopping. highway 22 north to south from Pincher Creek to Longview then 40 to Canmore thru Kananaskis Country...Canmore into Banff and up to Jasper...
There is oodles of great camping all along. The busy places will be Banff and Jasper..other than that I can't imagine having troubles finding spots. Mind you, I prefer fall..colours and elk rutting...
I'd say fall and go without reservations..that way, you just stop and spend time as you will, not tied to a schedule. That's the way I go..it's not for everyone, for sure.

RE: 1986 Minnie-Winnie Problems

If you do a search on here you'll likely get all the info you'd need. There are several people who have taken on huge projects, similar to yours. One thread is up and current on THIS Forum "fixing water Damage...." take a look and ask your questions. You'll get your answers.
I so wish I'd spell check before I posted.

RE: 1986 Minnie-Winnie Problems

Well, my friend, if you had all that other stuff and you fixed it...carry on! Yes, the window in the front of 'C' are a known weak spot allowing for water ingress. Also, all the clearance lights...reseal them if you haven't. Don't forget the hardwood flooring..that's very popular..hahahahahahahahahaha..I mean, you obviously have the skills...go to it, and please post pix..we all slather over others handi-work.

RE: Canadian Rockies/

oh golly...I get to one up paulj...geeeez...
books are called BC Backwoods, BY the Mussio Brothers. The actual office is in Burnaby, BC, books available most all bookstores in BC. Yes, they do have a Rockies Edition.
The meanest of the mountain roads has been avoided by pauljs list. If one wanted to test their skills and diaper holding abilities head for the Salmo Creston section of BC's #3 going west for downhill.
The mountain roads, paved, are still mountain roads and are to be accorded proper respect. You really do need to pay attention to the signage and so on. Pull over to let the trucks and tour buses by, enjoy the drive. It's awesome.

RE: Canadian Rockies/

paulj got it bang-on. If you were to follow his suggestions you get the best of it all. You have lots of research to do about stuff to do/see. This routing will require about..uhm...2 weeks border to border, a month would be better.

RE: Propane for grill

I really don't understand, why carry extra stuff? Bottles or tanks. Space is already at a premium. Get a custom made long propane hose made up. Mine's 25'. I tapped into the line from the side mounted tank and I'm cooking.

RE: BC this week!

Yes, for sure hunters, but for the most part they are in campers, not in motorhomes of the 'C' or 'A' variety. And I kinda figure the folks from Alaska aren't hunting here in BC, they have all they can handle at home. I did see a convoy of four rentals blasting west on 16, guess heading for ferry to the Island at Prince Rupert.

RE: Fulltiming with C

There's feller that fulltimes..on here..vagabond George and his Tioga. Do a search or Google to check him out and maybe ask him some questions.
It's a toss-up..C vs A, you know. It really is about space for storage and space for living. If money is NOT a concern, you need to check out the big A's. If money IS a concern, then you get more bang for your buck with a C. There are C's with slides and oodles of room. I think that once you have made the actual purchase, operational cost are similar, unless you have gone to a diesel pusher..then you'll need even deeper pockets. If you haven't spent time in an RV, the best thing is to borrow or rent one for a month or so and see if in fact, this works for you. It's a tough one, when you discover you've made the oops and need to sell and loose a pile. Some folks can live together in a VW micro bus, and others can't live in a 10 bedroom mansion.

RE: BC this week!

We were out to Smithers and checking out the dirt roads Thanksgiving weekend and will make a dash to Prince George for...*gasp*...Christmas shopping, weekend of Nov 8th-11th. After that, I really must put in some pink, drain the lines, remove the batteries, jury-rig a spot for the next 4 months and run a line for the oil heater.
And yes, there are still rv's on the road. I saw a number of rigs from Alaska heading during that T-Day wander, but that should be over by mid-November.

RE: f650 front shock upgrades???

Call your local parts dealer..NAPA? you can get NAPA Gas for about 50@ I would think. You can also look at Bilstiens for probably 100@. I took the NAPA. Give your local prts shop a call. Tell them what you have..see what suggest. Bilstiens will get a great rating from users here, but they do tend to be pricey.

RE: Tank Dumping Assist Devices

I think that people make this task much more complex that needs be. As soon as it's used..it's back to it's intended state.
The biggest thing is having a window in the bathroom. And some rv's don't. Attach the outside dump hose to RV-to dump tank, then run the waterline thru the opened window, into the throat of the toilet (shut off water pump) let the guillotine close on the hose, thus holding it in, turn on the water...full tilt boogie, eh. Go outside...count to..oh...10? 20? pull the release valve...let'er run till the hose stops dancing, close valve..count..10?20?, pull again...close and count...do it one more time for luck. You now have an emptied, clean-ish tank. Close valve, count 10 or 20..turn off water. Back inside, pull hose, out the window with it, go out, rinse line with hose, drain, put away and done.
Always, have 4 or 5 gallons in the black tank to start out with, then you never need fear plugging. The motion of your rv and the mixing action of the water will ensure that all gets dissolved.
Pull ahead to fresh water spigot and fill your water tank with YOUR own hose.

RE: Buying a C class in Canada

E Bay, Graigslist, Buy/Sell...also have ads for eastern Canada. As in all on-line sales, due diligence is the absolute by-word. You might find a great deal but there ain't NO free lunch, but they are the way to get a good feel for whats out there and at what price. Buying from a rental outfit is maybe one of the best options. The equipment works and the mileage may appear high but what is called a Driveway Queen...an rv with really low mileage, is trouble looking for a new home.

RE: Laptop Batteries - Is there one that lasts 10+ hours for me?

I use my laptop all the time and boondock. Watching movies, grabbin wifi if I am a street somewhere. I use two, 2 hr batteries, a 600w inverter that will run the unit as long as I am not watching movies. Otherwise the draw is too much. I am going to have a 12v plug run from my 2 6v deep cycles and that should end the squeal from the inverter.
If you don't know...the smaller inverters plug into the lighter socket and if the inverter is run while you are driving, will re-charge the laptop batteries.
